Seasonal Flavors: Autumn Picnic & Pumpkin Cheesecake

The fall flavors are coming back for Sept-Nov! Autumn Picnic and White Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake

Here for the fall season…

Autumn Picnic – Fig & Honey with Goat Cheese Frosting
Starting with a cupcake infused with local honey from Marshall’s Farm Honey, it is filled with fig jam and topped with a decadent goat cheese frosting and dried orange wedge.

Autumn Picnic – Fig & Honey with Goat Cheese Cupcake

(Don’t be intimidated by the goat cheese frosting in this cupcake. While it has hints of savory with a bit of goat cheese in the frosting, that savory flavor is quickly balanced to a sweet dessert by the honey and fig jam.  The result is a wonderful explosion of flavors in one cupcake.)

Seasonal Flavor: Death By Chocolate

The votes from my 1yr Company Anniversary Flavor Poll & Giveaway were counted and this flavor won by ONE SINGLE vote! (who says your vote doesn’t count?). The runner up was Rosemary-Kissed Strawberry Shortcake, which just might become a seasonal flavor in the near future since it was such a close race. Thank you to everyone who participated and voted in this flavor poll. I was thrilled to hear from each and every one of you.

Big congrats to Amy, who was the winner of Free Dozen Cupcakes!

The winning flavor – Death By Chocolate – is basically my attempt to answer the question “How much chocolate can you get into one cupcake?”

Here for July 2012: Introducing my latest Seasonal Flavor…

Seasonal Flavor: Mango with “Sticky Rice”

Inspired by the warmer, brighter days we’ve been having here in the Bay Area, I tackled the my latest seasonal flavor with the goal to bring the bright flavors of mango into a cupcake.  Plus, June is Mango Month! The month where the most varieties of mango is available in the U.S. What resulted from my creation is just a bit of sunshine in your mouth.

Here for June 2012: Introducing my latest Seasonal Flavor…

Mango with “Sticky Rice” Cupcakes – A light and airy sponge cake with a hint of coconut milk, filled with fresh mangoes and mango curd, topped with mango buttercream and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds.

Mango with "Sticky Rice" Cupcakes

If you’re a fan of the famous Thai dessert – Mango with Sticky Rice, or if you’re a fan of mango in general, you’re likely to love these cupcakes as much as I do. The mango flavor is tangy and sweet in the fresh mango and homemade mango curd filling. They are topped with a light mango buttercream frosting and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds.

Made entirely with rice flour, the cake is very light, moist, and spongy – a bit lighter than the traditional cupcakes that you’ll typically find on my menu. With just a hint of coconut milk in the cake, the flavors combine into what is reflective of Mango with Sticky Rice.

For my gluten sensitive friends, you may want to consider getting a batch of this month’s seasonal flavor. These cupcakes are made without any gluten ingredients. Note: They are made on thoroughly cleaned, but shared equipment.

Check this blog out for some gorgeous pics and a recipe for traditional Mango with Sticky Rice.

Seasonal Flavor: Peanut Butter & Jelly

What is more delightful than a peanut butter & jelly sandwich? And then when those sweet and savory flavors are put into a cupcake, life really doesn’t get much better, does it? Comfort food at it’s best!

So grab your big glass of milk, pick your favorite jelly flavor – strawberry or grape – pull up a chair to the table, and take a big ol’ bite out of this month’s seasonal flavor.

Peanut Butter & Jelly – Light vanilla cupcake filled with your choice of strawberry or grape jelly, topped with a fluffy peanut butter frosting.
